Smoothly, but slower than last year, soybean harvest lagged last season by 20 percentage points. There are some logistical problems, for example in the north of the country. There, the use of shorter and shorter cycles makes their harvest overlap with the threshing of the center and north of the Pampean region. “The lots are ready to be lifted but machines are lacking and the delay can discount kilos,” warn the engineers in Chaco. The national harvest advance is 65% and some results that are being seen in the yields in the areas of La Pampa, Córdoba and Santa Fe above expectations could make a positive adjustment in production possible near the end of the harvest. For now, the figures estimated in April are maintained: a national yield of 27.75 qq / ha and a planted area of 16.9 M ha. Soybeans have had a tough year: the rains have been very limited, especially in the core region, and a lost area is estimated, almost all second-rate soybeans spoiled by thermal hydraulic stress, of 700 thousand ha. Even so, and with more than half harvested, a national production of 45 Mt is affirmed.
